The Absence of a Sign quest in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth offers players an engaging side mission located in the rugged domain of Cosmo Canyon. Unlocked after completing key narrative events in the region, this quest tasks Cloud and Aerith with investigating celestial phenomena across three distinct locations. To successfully finish the assignment, players must defeat ferocious creatures and capture high-accuracy photographs of mysterious constellations appearing in the sky.

Starting the Absence of a Sign Quest

To begin this side mission, head to the Planetary Assembly in Cosmo Canyon and speak with Caesar, a planetologist stationed near the telescope. He will hand over research notes detailing three specific constellations that need to be photographed following the defeat of giant scorpion-like monsters called Reapertails. Equipping both Ice and Fire Materia before setting out is highly recommended to easily stagger these aggressive enemies.

Locating and Photographing the First Phenomenon

The first site lies along a winding mountain path accessible from the nearby airfield area. After defeating the initial Reapertail at the top of the ridge, position yourself near Aerith and pull out your camera. Aim the lens toward the rocky mountain archway, adjusting the zoom until the frame turns green and indicates at least 80 percent accuracy before taking the shot.

Navigating the Gliding Ramps for the Second Photo

Reaching the second location requires navigating through the Planetological Ruins toward a large platform. Defeat the second Reapertail guarding the area to reveal the constellation. Aim your camera lens just above the tip of the giant rock jutting out from the mountain on the left side of the canyon to capture the required image.

Finding the Final Location and Claiming Rewards

The final photograph location is situated near Activation Intel 6 and can be reached by using Chocobo gliding ramps and air fans. Eliminate the last Reapertail, then align your camera lens between the two prominent mountain peaks to record the celestial event. Return to Caesar at the Planetary Assembly to submit your photos and earn valuable rewards, including party experience, a Deck of Tarot Cards, and enhanced affinity with Aerith.
